The Buddha said: "The eighth dream, in which the king saw four oxen coming bellowing from the four directions, rushing toward one another wanting to fight, yet just as they were about to clash and before colliding, their whereabouts became unknown: this means that in future generations, rulers, senior officials, and the common people will all lack sincere hearts, deceiving one another. Foolish and irascible, they will not respect heaven and earth. For this reason, the rains will not fall in season. When the senior officials and common people pray for rain, clouds will rise from all four quarters with the sounds of thunder and lightning; the officials and people will all say it is going to rain, yet in an instant the clouds will disperse without rain falling. Why is this? Because the rulers, officials, and people lack loyalty, rectitude, loving-kindness, and benevolence. The king's dream refers precisely to this. Great King, do not fear."
