Furthermore, the *Zuifu jueyi jing* says: When monks, nuns, laypeople, and others give their own wealth or solicit goods intended for the Buddha's use and service, and someone uses these goods to fashion figures of birds and beasts and places them on the Buddha's offering plate: if the loss amounts to five [coins], they commit an inexpiable transgression from which they never return, falling into the Avīci Hell for a kalpa. Those who redeem them with incense, oil, and lamps for offering commit no offense. The Buddha does not seek profit, and no person can assimilate it. When first making offerings to the Buddha, whether senior, middle, or junior seated monks, they must teach the laypeople to present them to the Buddha and the Saṃgha. If, after the offering to the Buddha is finished, it is distributed to the monks to eat, there is no offense. If not, because they eat the Buddha's goods, they fall into the Avīci Hell for a thousand billion years. A dānapati who does not accept the earlier teaching will also incur the earlier retribution. If born among humans, for nine million years he will be born in low and base stations. Why? Because no one can set a price on the Buddha's property.
