33.24

述曰。此謂施主決定入佛受用。所以須贖。若如今時齋上每出佛槃飲食。情通彼此不局情者。食訖還入施主不勞牧贖。如七月十五日獻佛及僧。無佛僧受用即須贖用也。

I comment: This refers to when the donor has definitively assigned [the goods] for the Buddha's use; therefore, they must be redeemed. If, as nowadays, food and drink are presented on the Buddha's plate at every feast, with intention extended to both sides and not restricted, once the meal is finished it reverts to the donors, who need not take the trouble to redeem it. For instance, on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, offerings are made to the Buddha and the Saṃgha; where there is no Buddha or Saṃgha to use them, one must redeem them for use.
