又文殊師利問菩提經云。爾時天子問文殊師利言。菩薩有幾心能攝因能攝果。文殊答言。諸菩薩有四心能攝因能攝果。何等為四。一初發心。二行道心。三不退轉心。四一生補處心。初發心為行道心作因緣。行道心為不退轉心作因緣。不退轉心為一生補處心作因緣。

Furthermore, the Sūtra of Mañjuśrī's Inquiry on Bodhi says: At that time, a deva questioned Mañjuśrī, saying: 'How many minds does a bodhisattva possess that can encompass causes and encompass fruits?' Mañjuśrī replied: 'Bodhisattvas have four minds that can encompass causes and encompass fruits. What are the four? First, the mind of initial resolve. Second, the mind of walking the path. Third, the non-retrogressing mind. Fourth, the mind of a bodhisattva bound to one last birth. The mind of initial resolve serves as the cause and condition for the mind of walking the path; the mind of walking the path serves as the cause and condition for the non-retrogressing mind; the non-retrogressing mind serves as the cause and condition for the mind of being bound to one last birth.'
