The Bodhisattvagharbhastha Sūtra also states: The kiṃnaras dwell north of Mount Sumeru; beyond the Minor Cakravāḍa there is a Great Black Mountain, also situated amid the Ten Jewel Mountains. There is no Buddhadharma, sun, moon, or stars there. Due to the power of their past dāna, they now dwell in palaces of the seven treasures and their lifespans are exceedingly long. This king had formerly been a great elder among humans who erected a Buddha stūpa; this kiṃnara donated a central mast, thereby completing the monastery, and furthermore provided pure food to the artisans. When his life ended, he became a chest-spirit between the two mountains. Earlier, while among humans as a great elder of immeasurable wealth, a śramaṇa begged for food, and his wife carried the rice to give it in alms. He flew into a great rage, saying: 'Why does this beggar look upon my wife? I shall cause this person's hands and feet to be broken off!' After his life ended, he received this ugly form, being constantly without hands or feet for eighty-four kalpas. At the banquets of the devas, they take turns going up and down with the gandharvas. When the devas wish to perform music, sweat flows from their armpits, and they naturally ascend to the heavens. There was a kiṃnara named Drumila, who sang to the zither of the dharmatā of all phenomena to praise the World-Honoured One. At that time, Mount Sumeru and the forest trees all trembled and shook; Kāśyapa could not keep still on his seat; five hundred ṛṣis were driven wild and intoxicated in heart, losing their supernatural feet.
