The Drumakinnararājaparipṛcchā Sūtra also states: At that time, the kiṃnara king Druma took his vaidūrya zither, adorned with Jambūnada gold flowers and leaves, which had been fashioned through pure karmic retribution. Before the Tathāgata, he tuned the zither skillfully, along with eighty-four thousand other musical instruments. When this king Druma struck this zither and beat the multitude of instruments, the sound was heard throughout this trichiliocosm. The sound of this zither and the wondrous song eclipsed all the music of the devas in the desire realm. All the mountains, medicinal herbs, and groves were moved throughout, reeling back and forth and tumbling like men deeply intoxicated. Mount Sumeru pitched and heaved, rising and sinking without settling. All ordinary beings and saints—except for the non-retrogressing bodhisattvas—all the rest, upon hearing the sound of this zither and the musical tones, could not remain still and arose from their seats to dance. All the śrāvakas cast aside their dignified deportment, indulging in joyful abandonment like children playing and dancing, unable to control themselves. At that time, the bodhisattva Tianguan said to these śrāvakas, Mahākāśyapa and the others: 'Venerable Ones, you have already abandoned the defilements and attained the eight liberations. Why do you now abandon your dignified deportment, moving your entire bodies and dancing like children?' At that time, the venerable śrāvakas replied: 'Good man, in this we have no mastery. It is like the great whirlwind blowing against the trees; they have no power to steady themselves, nor is it what their original minds desire.' At that time, Bodhisattva Tianguan said to Mahākāśyapa: 'Look now upon the power and majesty of these non-retrogressing bodhisattvas! Who, seeing this, would not give rise to the mind of unsurpassed, true and correct bodhi?' The mighty power of the zither's sound all preached the sounds of the Dharma, and eight thousand bodhisattvas attained the forbearance of non-arising.
