Furthermore, in the southwest of Ku (Treasury) Valley in Zhongnan, also named Hulu (Gourd) Valley: in the past, someone was chopping and collecting wood in the mountains when he came upon a temple, along with a stone chamber and a stone door. Inside the door were precious vessels, so heavy they could not be lifted; however, no monks were seen. These were the utensils and implements for the assembly of monks. The man paced back and forth, looking around to mark the location, and hung the bottle gourd he was carrying on a tree by the chamber. Going down the mountain, he summoned villagers to go look for it, but in the valley, gourds hung all over the trees everywhere, and no trace could be found. Now there are those who search the mountain and say that a stone door leaf stands beside a mountain cliff, half-sunk beneath the mountain; although the other half is exposed, human strength cannot open it. Now its valley is named Ku (Treasury) and the place is named Tianzang (Heavenly Treasury); thus the government post and ward at the valley mouth are both named Tianzang. It is surmised that inside this mountain [the treasure] will only appear to the world when Maitreya descends to be born.
