5.62

涼記曰。呂光。字世明。連結豪賢施與待士身長八尺四寸。目重童。左肘生肉。印性沈重。質略寬大有度量。時人莫之識。唯王猛布衣時異之曰。此非凡人。

The Liang ji states: “Lü Guang, courtesy name Shiming, allied with worthy and heroic men, gave generously, and treated gentlemen with respect. He was eight chi and four cun tall, with double pupils in his eyes and a flesh-stamp on his left elbow. By nature he was grave and deliberate, simple, magnanimous, and generous in measure. The people of his time did not recognize his worth; only Wang Meng, while still a commoner, marvelled at him and said: ‘This is no ordinary man.’”
