51.59

時眾鳥咸言。實如所說。即共集義。此鸚䳇鳥聰明黠慧堪應為王。便拜為王。佛告諸比丘。彼時土梟者。今闡陀比丘是。鸚䳇鳥者。今阿難是。

Then the flock of birds all said: ‘It is truly as you have said.’ They immediately assembled and resolved: ‘This parrot is intelligent, clever, and wise; it is fit to be king.’ They then appointed it king.” The Buddha addressed the bhikṣus: “The owl at that time was the present bhikṣu Chanda; the parrot was the present Ānanda.”
