57.24

復有一鬼言。我常有旋風迴轉我身。不得自在隨意東西。心常惱悶。何因故爾。目連答言。汝前世時。常作卜師。或時實語。或時妄語。迷惑人心不得隨意。

Another ghost said: 'A whirlwind constantly spins my body around so that I have no autonomy to go east or west as I please, and my heart is always troubled and stifled. For what reason is it so?' Maudgalyāyana replied: 'In your past life, you were a diviner. Sometimes you spoke the truth, and sometimes you spoke falsehoods, confusing people's minds so that they could not do as they pleased.'
