For performing this method, one must take a black sheep's-wool cord, empower it with the dhāraṇī seven times, and tie it to the left arm. If there is no sheep's wool, using black thread will also do. If one suffers from a febrile disease for three or four days, empower a black thread and tie it to the left arm. If one suffers from headache, recite the dhāraṇī seven times and rub it with the hand. If one suffers from deafness, empower a piece of wood seven times and plug it [into the ear]. If one has a toothache, empower a willow twig seven times and chew it. If one suffers from abdominal pain, empower salted broth seven times and drink it. If one suffers from difficult childbirth, empower a black thread seven times and tie it around the throat; the child will then be born easily. If one suffers from indigestion of previous meals, rub it with the hand while reciting the dhāraṇī, and one will immediately vomit or purge. If one suffers from other calamities or perils, it can protect one's body: one will not fear water, fire, weapons, or poisonous beasts, and all evils will be entirely unable to harm one. Excepted are those who do not apply their minds, do not exercise care in food and flavor, or are filthy and impure; for them, there will be no divine efficacy.
