61.22

幽冥錄曰。安開安城之俗巫也。善於幻術。每至祠神。時擊鼓宰三牲。積薪然火盛熾。束帶入火中。章紙燒盡。而開形體衣服猶如初。時王疑之為江州。伺王當行陽為王刷頭簪荷葉。以為帽之有異。到坐之後。荷葉乃見。舉坐驚駭。

The Records of the Hidden and Visible states: "An Kai was a secular spirit-medium of Ancheng, skilled in illusion arts. Whenever it came time to sacrifice to the spirits, they would beat drums and slaughter the three sacrificial beasts, piling firewood and lighting a blazing fire. Fastening his belt, Kai entered the fire; the memorial documents and paper burned completely away, yet Kai's physical body and clothing remained just as at first. At that time, the Prince of Jiangzhou suspected him; waiting until the prince was about to set out, Kai pretended to comb the prince's hair and inserted a lotus leaf, taking it to be a peculiar cap. After taking his seat, the lotus leaf then appeared; the entire gathering was astonished."
