64.65

若人利益眾生。觀諸餓鬼種種飢渴。自燒其身如燒叢林。四面馳走互相踢突。焰火焚燒遍體熾然。以求救護無能救者。此諸眾生何時當離種種苦惱。是名觀鬼而起悲心則生梵天。

If a person seeks to benefit sentient beings, they should contemplate the hungry ghosts suffering from various forms of hunger and thirst, their bodies burning themselves like blazing groves, scurrying in all directions, crashing into and trampling one another, engulfed in flames and flaring all over. Though they seek rescue, there is none who can save them. When will these beings ever be free from such diverse sufferings and afflictions? This is called contemplating the hungry ghosts and giving rise to compassion, through which one will be born in the Brahmā heavens.
