梁楊思達為西陽郡。值侯景亂。時復旱儉。飢民盜田中麥。思達遣一部曲守視。所得盜者。輒截手腕。凡戮十餘人。部曲後生一男。自然無手。

During the Liang dynasty, Yang Sida was [governor of] Xiyang Commandery. During the Hou Jing rebellion, there was also a drought and famine. Hungry people stole wheat from the fields. Sida dispatched a retainer to guard and watch over them. Whenever a thief was caught, he would cut off their wrists, executing [this punishment on] more than ten people in all. Later, the retainer fathered a son who was naturally born without hands.
