善膊問言。汝以何事得知。答言。汝等二獸。共集一處。相見自知。後二獸共集一處瞋眼相視。善牙師子便作是念。我不應不問。便先下手打彼。爾時善牙師子向善膊虎。而說偈言。

Good Shoulder asked, saying: 'By what matter do you know this?' [The jackal] answered, saying: 'When you two beasts gather together in one place, seeing each other you will naturally know.' Later, the two beasts gathered together in one place, looking at each other with angry eyes. The lion Good Tooth then thought: 'I should not strike him down first without asking.'
