又僧祇律云。過去世時有一群雞依榛林住。有狸侵食雄雞。惟有雌在後。烏來覆之。共生一子。子作聲時。翁說偈言。

Furthermore, the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya says: In a past age, there was a flock of chickens living in a dense forest. There was a wildcat that preyed upon the cock, leaving only the hen. Later, a crow came and mated with her, and together they gave birth to a child. When the child made a sound, the old crow spoke a verse, saying:
