又僧祇律云。過去世時。有一群雞。依榛林住有狸侵食。唯餘一雌。烏來覆之共生一子。子作聲時。烏說偈言。
Furthermore, the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya says: In a past age, there was a flock of chickens living near a thicket of hazel trees. A wildcat preyed upon them until only one hen remained. A crow came, covered her, and together they gave birth to a son. When the son made a sound, the crow spoke a verse:
