8.81

說此偈已臥夜叉前。以劍刺頸施夜叉血。即復破胸出心與之。是時天地大動。日無精光無雲而雷。有五夜叉從四方來。爭取分裂競共食之。食已大噭躍立空中告千聖王。誰能行施如牢度跋提。如此行施乃可成佛。時千聖王驚怖退沒不欲菩提。生變悔心各欲還國。時五夜叉。即說偈言。

Having spoken this verse, he lay down before the yakṣa, pierced his neck with the sword, and gave the yakṣa his blood, and then tore open his chest, drew out his heart, and gave it to him. At that moment, heaven and earth shook violently, the sun lost its brilliant light, and thunder sounded without clouds. Five yakṣas arrived from the four quarters, scrambling to tear him apart and vie with one another to eat him. Having eaten, they shouted loudly, leaped, stood in midair, and said to the thousand holy kings: 'Who can practice giving like Raudrabhadra? Only by practicing giving like this can one attain buddhahood!' At that time, the thousand holy kings, terrified and discouraged, no longer desired bodhi; giving rise to regret, they each wished to return to their countries. Then the five yakṣas spoke a verse:
