81.62

又優婆塞戒經云。若施佛已。用與不用。果報已定。施人及僧。有二種福。一從用生。二從受生。何以故。施主施時自破慳悋。受者用時破他慳悋。是故說言。從用生福。

Furthermore, the Upāsaka-śīla-sūtra says: If one has made an offering to the Buddha, whether it is used or not, the karmic retribution is already fixed. In giving to humans and to the Saṃgha, there are two kinds of blessings: first, arising from use; second, arising from reception. Why is this? When the donor gives, they themselves destroy stinginess; when the recipient uses it, they destroy the stinginess of others. Therefore it is said: blessings arise from use.
