時穿珠師即加打棒。以兩手并頭並皆被縛。四向顧望莫知所告。而作是念。生死受苦皆應如是。又說偈言。

Then the gem-piercer struck him with a club. Both his hands along with his head were bound. Looking around in all four directions, he knew not to whom he could report it. He then reflected, "All the suffering endured in saṃsāra must be like this." And he spoke a verse, saying:
