Reflecting on my saṃsāra,
Its past has no beginning,
Down to this present life,
Continuous and uninterrupted.
Because covered by the darkness of ignorance,
The fires of the three poisons constantly burn.
Although having body and mind,
I am unable to awaken myself.
In vain I receive all Buddhas
Radiating the sunlight of wisdom;
Illuminating my two kinds of bodies,
Yet I have not perceived it.
Harboring delusion, born in the various destinies,
There is no class I have not experienced.
Carefully contemplating these causes and conditions,
Who has not been my own kin?
Furthermore, I consider that all sentient beings
Originally share the same single ocean of mind.
Due to the waves of consciousness from false thoughts,
Bodies of the various destinies illusorily arise.
These bodies are not various;
They share with me the same nature of suchness.
Because of lost mindfulness,
Distinctions of other and self arise.
From this, love and hate arise,
Constantly contending with one another.
Day and night harboring resentment,
Thinking of retaliating against one another.
Consequently, among sentient beings,
There is none I have not harmed:
Greedily seizing the requisites of life,
Inordinately giving rise to defiled desires;
Deceitful words without truth,
Harsh speech without restraint;
Divisive speech ruining one another,
Frivolous talk mocking people;
An ocean of greed insatiable,
Fires of anger burning repeatedly;
Wrong views opposing the correct teaching,
Deceitful crookedness devoid of sincerity and faith;
Violating all the pure precepts
Of all the Tathāgatas.
Resentment, hatred, love, and hate—
There is no thought in which they do not exist.
If these sins are not repented,
They will perfume one's own mind throughout the long night;
Accumulating perfuming without cease,
Transforming into the place of hell
And all the instruments of suffering.
At that time, all the Buddhas
Are entirely unable to save one,
Except if one personally confesses
All the transgressions committed.
Echoing the mind of the Buddhas and bodhisattvas,
In accord with the originally pure nature,
The beginningless ignorance
From this gradually grows faint and thin.
Therefore, harboring shame and remorse,
With a profound mind I repent all sins.
May the Buddhas radiate rays of compassion
To illuminate suffering sentient beings,
So that all heaps of afflictions
Are completely eliminated;
The inherently pure mind,
From here to ultimate fruition,
The equal, true dharmadhātu,
Now attains complete fulfillment.
