又十住毘婆沙論云。問曰。齋法云何。答曰。應作是言。如諸聖人。常離殺生。棄捨刀杖。常無瞋恚。有慚愧心。慈悲眾生。我某甲今一日一夜。遠離殺生。棄捨刀杖。無有瞋恚。有慚愧心。慈悲眾生。以如是法隨學聖人。

Furthermore, the Daśabhūmika-vibhāṣā states: 'Question: What is the method of the fast? Answer: One should speak thus: “Just as all noble ones constantly refrain from killing living beings, cast aside knives and staves, are constantly free from anger, possess a sense of shame and conscience, and are compassionate toward sentient beings; so I, so-and-so, now for one day and one night keep far away from killing living beings, cast aside knives and staves, am free from anger, possess a sense of shame and conscience, and am compassionate toward sentient beings; by means of such a dharma emulating the noble ones.
