9.44

又普曜經云。菩薩生已七日。其母命終受忉利天上福相。適昇彼天。五萬梵天各執寶瓶。二萬梵魔妻手執寶縷侍菩薩母。又瑞應本起經云。菩薩本知母人之德。不堪受其禮。故因其將終而從之生。又大善權經云。生後七日其母薨。福應昇天非菩薩咎。又因果經云。太子姨母摩訶波闍波提。乳養太子如母無異。

Furthermore, the Puyang jing states: seven days after the bodhisattva was born, his mother passed away and received the auspicious reward of rebirth in the Trāyastriṃśa Heaven. As soon as she ascended to that heaven, fifty thousand Brahmā gods, each holding a precious vase, and twenty thousand wives of Brahmā and Māra holding precious threads in their hands, attended upon the mother of the bodhisattva. Furthermore, the Ruiying benqi jing states: the bodhisattva originally knew that the virtue of a mortal mother could not bear his obeisance; therefore, because her end was near, he was born from her. Furthermore, the Da shanquan jing states: seven days after his birth, his mother died; her merit entitled her to ascend to heaven, and it was not the bodhisattva's fault. Furthermore, the Yinguo jing states: the crown prince's maternal aunt, Mahāprajāpatī, nursed and raised the crown prince no differently than his own mother.
