汝見宍橛者。是地獄人。迦葉佛時。是出家人。寺中常住僧牆壁上。浪竪樴杙。非為僧事。懸己衣鉢。故入地獄。作大肉橛。火燒受苦。至今不息。

'The peg of flesh you saw was a person in hell. In the time of Kāśyapa Buddha, he was a renunciant permanently residing in a temple who recklessly drove stakes into the walls of the Saṃgha for non-monastic purposes, merely to hang his own robes and bowl. Therefore, he entered hell and became a great peg of flesh, burned by fire and enduring suffering without ceasing down to the present day.'
