又五辛報應經云。七眾等不得食肉葷辛讀誦經論得罪。有病開。在伽藍外白衣家服。已滿四十九日。香湯澡浴竟。然後許讀誦經論不犯。

Furthermore, the Sūtra on the Retributions of the Five Pungent Roots says: "The seven assemblies must not eat meat or pungent roots when chanting and reciting sūtras and treatises; to do so incurs an offense. For illness there is an exception: one consumes them in a layperson's house outside the saṃghārāma. After a full forty-nine days have elapsed, having bathed in perfumed water, only then is one permitted to chant and recite the sūtras and treatises without transgression."
