漢武帝幸李夫人。夫人後卒。帝哀思不已。方土少翁言能致其神。乃施帷帳明燈燭。帝遙望見美女居帳中。如李夫人之狀。而不得就。乃遙視之。

In the Han dynasty, Emperor Wu favored Lady Li. Later, the lady passed away, and the Emperor mourned her incessantly. Shao Weng, a master of esoteric arts, claimed he could summon her spirit. Thereupon, he hung curtains and lit bright lamps and candles. From afar, the Emperor saw a beautiful woman sitting within the curtains, resembling Lady Li in appearance, yet he could not approach her and could only gaze upon her from a distance.
