97.8

又華嚴經云。人欲終時見中陰相。若行惡業者。見三惡受苦。或見閻羅持諸兵仗囚執將去。或聞苦聲。若行善者。見諸天宮殿伎女莊嚴游戲快樂如是勝事。

Furthermore, the Avataṃsaka-sūtra says: When a person is about to die, they see the signs of the intermediate existence (antarābhava). If they have performed evil karma, they see the suffering endured in the three evil destinies, or they see Yama holding weapons to bind and arrest them and take them away, or they hear sounds of agony. If they have performed good deeds, they see the palaces of the heavens, adorned with maidens making music, disporting themselves, and enjoying happiness, and such superior wonders.
