Furthermore, the Satyaka-nirgrantha-putra-sūtra states: The Buddha addressed Mañjuśrī: All Buddhas and Tathāgatas possess twelve kinds of supreme and wonderful merits, just like the clarified butter (sarpirmaṇḍa) which is the most supreme among all flavours; it is foremost in purity and can purify all Buddha-lands, and the Tathāgatas attain anuttarā-saṃbodhi within them. What are the twelve? First, manifesting the turbidity of the kalpa. Second, manifesting the turbidity of time. Third, manifesting the turbidity of sentient beings. Fourth, manifesting the turbidity of afflictions. Fifth, manifesting the turbidity of lifespan. Sixth, manifesting the turbidity of the distinctions among the three vehicles. Seventh, manifesting the turbidity of impure Buddha-lands. Eighth, manifesting the turbidity of sentient beings difficult to convert. Ninth, manifesting the turbidity of expounding various afflictions. Tenth, manifesting the turbidity of non-Buddhist disturbances. Eleventh, manifesting the turbidity of Māra. Twelfth, manifesting the turbidity of Māra's karmic deeds. Good men, all Buddha-lands are fully endowed with supramundane merits, adorned and completely pure; they do not have such faults of the various turbidities. You all should know that these are entirely the power of the Buddhas' skillful means for the benefit of sentient beings.
