刮舌有五事。一不得過三反。二舌上血出當止。三不得大振手污僧伽梨若足。四棄楊枝莫當人道。五當著屏處。

"Scraping the tongue has five rules: first, it must not exceed three times; second, if blood appears on the tongue, one must stop; third, one must not vigorously shake one's hands so as to soil the saṃghāṭī robe or one's feet; fourth, do not discard the willow twig on a path where people walk; and fifth, it should be placed in a secluded spot."
