述曰。既知經意。鳴鍾濟苦。兼以集眾。即須維那。將欲打鍾。斂容合掌。發願利生之意。因鍾念善。便受苦畢。

The author remarks: Now that we know the intention of the sūtra, striking the bell relieves suffering and also gathers the assembly. Therefore, when the karmadāna is about to strike the bell, he should compose his demeanor, join his palms, and bring forth the wish to benefit living beings. By contemplating goodness on account of the bell, their suffering will come to an end.
