99.45

又增一阿含經云。若打鍾時。願一切惡道諸苦並皆停止。若聞鍾聲兼說偈讚。得除五百億劫生死重罪。

The Ekottarika-āgama also says: "When striking the bell, make the vow: 'May all the sufferings of the evil destinies entirely cease!' If one hears the sound of the bell and recites gāthās of praise, one can eliminate the grave sins of birth and death for fifty billion kalpas."
