The Buddha said: 'Since this prince of King Ajātaśatru and the five hundred sons of elders have dwelt in the bodhisattva path, through countless kalpas, each has made offerings to forty billion Buddhas; now they have come again to make offerings to me. The prince of King Ajātaśatru and the five hundred sons of elders were all my disciples in a past life during the time of Kāśyapa Buddha; now they have all assembled and encountered each other once more.'
