Furthermore, the Saddharmasmṛtyupasthāna-sūtra says: 'If there are sentient beings who cultivate good and with a pure mind take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṃgha, not giving rise to other thoughts for even the space of ten hand-claps, after death they will be born in the Śuklamaṇi Heaven. Giving free rein to the five desires, their minds will be delighted and joyful. By the merit of the three refuges, even after their retribution is exhausted, in future lifetimes they will attain nirvāṇa.' Furthermore, the Anuttarāśraya-sūtra says: 'The Buddha told the bhikṣus: "There are three unsurpassable grounds: first, the unsurpassable ground of the Buddha; second, the unsurpassable ground of the Dharma; third, the unsurpassable ground of the Saṃgha. Among all sentient beings—whether two-footed, four-footed, footless, or many-footed; whether with form or formless; whether with perception, without perception, or neither with perception nor without perception—the Tathāgata declares these unsurpassable grounds. If there are sentient beings who generate faith and devotion toward these unsurpassable grounds, they will attain unsurpassable retribution among devas and humans."'
