'Furthermore, by what cause and condition does he know the wisdom of profound sūtras and the practices of dhāraṇī? By what cause and condition does he know concentrated thought across the three times and attain peace? By what cause and condition do all those who hear the wholesome teachings spoken by the Buddha joyfully believe and accept them?' The Buddha told the prince: 'Because the bodhisattva delights in copying, believing, receiving, chanting, reciting, studying, and inquiring, he therefore knows the wisdom of profound sūtras and attains the practices of dhāraṇī. Furthermore, because he constantly focuses his mental application, he therefore attains peaceful samādhi. Because what he speaks is utmostly sincere, people believe and turn to whatever he says, and those who hear it rejoice. By what cause and condition is he not born in evil places? By what cause and condition is he born in heaven? By what cause and condition is he devoid of greed for sensual desire?'
