The Buddha told the prince: 'Because the bodhisattva generation after generation has faith in the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṃgha, he is therefore not born in the eight places of adversity. Because he keeps the precepts without breach, he is therefore born in heaven. Because he knows the sūtras and Dharma to be fundamentally empty, he is therefore devoid of sensual greed.'
