Furthermore, the Brahmajāla Sūtra states: “If a disciple of the Buddha sees a Mahāyāna Dharma master of shared views and shared practice coming into a saṃghārāma, house, city, or town—even if coming from a hundred li or a thousand li away—they should welcome them as they come, escort them as they leave, and make prostrations and offerings to them. They should make offerings three times each day, [spending] three ounces of gold a day, offering delicacies of a hundred flavors and bed and seat to the Dharma master, providing all necessities to them in full. They should constantly request the Dharma master to preach the Dharma three times [a day], and make prostrations three times each day, without giving rise to a mind of anger or vexation, giving up their body for the Dharma to request the teaching. If one does not do so, one commits an offense of light defilement.”
