At that time, the king, hearing the Buddha's words, repented before the Buddha, feeling ashamed and reproaching himself. His mind suddenly opened in comprehension and he became an anāgāmin. The eight thousand people led by the king sought the king's permission to leave the household life and all became arhats. The remaining sixteen thousand people all resolved upon bodhicitta. Eighty thousand devas also resolved their minds together. The eighty-four thousand golden monkeys, hearing of their past causes and conditions, were ashamed and reproached themselves, circumambulated the Buddha a thousand times, and repented before the Buddha. Each gave rise to the mind of unsurpassed bodhi. According to the length of their lives, after their lives end, they will be born in the Tuṣita Heaven, meet Maitreya, and attain non-retrogression. Passing further through a hundred thousand kotis of nayutas of asaṃkhyeyas of Ganges-sands of kalpas, they will attain buddhahood, eighty-four thousand appearing successively in the world in the same kalpa. The kalpa will be named Great Radiance, and they will all be named Samantasuvarṇaprabhāsarāja Tathāgata.
