Third, 'mindfulness of the Saṃgha' means with concentrated essence to be mindful of the holy Saṃgha of the Tathāgata, accomplished in straightforwardness without deviousness, harmonious from top to bottom. The four pairs and eight stages among the Tathāgata's holy Saṃgha should be reverently served. Eliminating all chaotic thoughts, one of oneself attains nirvāṇa. Never departing from mindfulness of the Saṃgha, one then obtains merit. This is termed 'mindfulness of the Saṃgha.'
