Fourth, 'mindfulness of the precepts': what are called the precepts put an end to all evils. The precepts can bring about the path and cause people to rejoice. The precepts adorn the body with garlands, manifesting manifold excellences; like an auspicious vase, whatever one desires is fulfilled. Eliminating all chaotic thoughts, one of oneself attains nirvāṇa. Never departing from mindfulness of the precepts, one then obtains merit. This is termed 'mindfulness of the precepts.'
