Reflecting solely on old age, sickness, and death—
they are the great afflictions of the tridhātu.
When blessings are exhausted and life terminates,
one is cast away into the Yellow Springs.

The rotting body returns to the earth;
the spirit follows causes and conditions.
It is because I fear this
that I study the Way to seek nirvāṇa.
