又處處經云。佛言。彌勒不來下有四因緣。一有時福應彼間。二是此間人麁無能受經者。三功德未滿。四世間有能說經者故。彌勒不下。若當來下。餘有五十億七千六十萬歲。彌勒時人。眼皆見四千里。由本十種因緣德。一不掩人眼明。二不損人眼。三不覆人眼。四不藏人善。五不視殺。六不視盜。七不視婬。八不視陰私及人短。九諸惡事不視。十然燈於佛寺。

Furthermore, the Chuchu jing says: "The Buddha said: There are four causes and conditions why Maitreya does not descend: first, there is a time when the blessings correspond to that [heavenly] realm; second, the people of this realm are crude and none can receive the scriptures; third, his merits are not yet fulfilled; fourth, in the world there are still those who can preach the scriptures; therefore, Maitreya does not descend. When he is to descend, there will remain fifty billion seven hundred sixty million years. At Maitreya's time, people's eyes will all see four thousand li, owing to their fundamental ten kinds of causal virtues: first, not blocking others' clear sight; second, not harming others' eyes; third, not covering others' eyes; fourth, not concealing others' goodness; fifth, not watching killing; sixth, not watching stealing; seventh, not watching sexual misconduct; eighth, not watching private secrets and others' faults; ninth, not watching various evil deeds; tenth, lighting lamps in Buddhist monasteries."
