佛言。龜者調達是也。昔以瞋語致有死苦。今復瞋罵如來墮大地獄。

The Buddha said: The tortoise was Devadatta. In the past, because of angry words, he incurred the suffering of death; now, again, because of angrily reviling the Tathāgata, he fell into the great hells.
