10.34

又未曾有經云。天帝問野干曰。施食施法有何功德。唯願說之。野干答曰。布施飲食。濟一日之命。施珍寶財物。濟一世之乏增益繫縛。說法教化名為法施。能令眾生出世間道。

Furthermore, the Adbhutadharmaparyāya-sūtra says: 'The heavenly lord asked the jackal, saying: "What merits are there in the giving of food and the giving of Dharma? I only wish that you would speak of them." The jackal replied, saying: "Giving food and drink sustains life for a single day. Giving precious jewels and wealth relieves the lack of a single lifetime, yet increases fetters. Preaching the Dharma to teach and transform is called the gift of Dharma; it can cause sentient beings to transcend the worldly path."'
