10.35

又大丈夫論云。財施者人道中有。法施者大悲中有。財施者除眾生身苦。法施者除眾生心苦。財施愛多者施與。財寶愚癡多者施與。其法財施者。為其作無盡錢財。法施者為得無盡智。財施者為得身樂。法施者為得心樂。財施者為眾生所愛。法施者為世間所敬。財施者為愚人所愛。法施者為智者所愛。財施者能與現樂。法施者能與天道涅槃之樂。如偈曰。

Furthermore, the Lokaprajñapti-śāstra [Dazhangfu lun] says: 'The giving of wealth exists within the human path; the giving of Dharma exists within great compassion. The giving of wealth removes physical suffering of sentient beings; the giving of Dharma removes mental suffering of sentient beings. The giving of wealth is given by those with much attachment; material treasures are given by those with much ignorance. As for the gift of Dharma-wealth, it creates endless coin and wealth for them; the giving of Dharma is for obtaining endless wisdom. The giving of wealth is for obtaining physical pleasure; the giving of Dharma is for obtaining mental joy. The giver of wealth is loved by sentient beings; the giver of Dharma is respected by the world. The giver of wealth is loved by foolish people; the giver of Dharma is loved by wise people. The giving of wealth can bestow present pleasure; the giving of Dharma can bestow the bliss of the heavenly paths and nirvāṇa.' As the verse says:
