10.78

汝真是比丘　實是苦行者
號爾為沙門　汝實稱斯名
我今當云何　而不加擁護
見諦能持戒　斯事不為難
凡夫不毀禁　此乃名希有
比丘處安隱　清淨自謹慎
捨已所愛命　護持佛禁戒
難為而能為　此最為希有

"You are truly a monk, / Truly an ascetic; / You are called a śramaṇa, / And you truly match this name. / How could I now / Not offer you protection? / Seeing the truth and being able to uphold the precepts— / This is not difficult; / But an ordinary person not breaking the prohibitions— / This is indeed called rare! / When a monk dwells in security, / Pure and self-restrained, / But gives up his own cherished life / To guard and uphold the Buddha's prohibitive precepts, / Doing what is difficult to do— / This is the most rare!"
