10.77

既說偈已。即輸板與上座。既捨板已。于時海神感其精誠。即接年少比丘置於岸上。海神合掌白比丘言。我今歸依堅持戒者。汝今遭是危難之事。能持佛戒。海神說偈報曰。

Having spoken the verse, he immediately handed over the plank to the senior. After he had surrendered the plank, at that time the sea deity, moved by his sincere devotion, immediately took up the young monk and placed him on the shore. The sea deity joined his palms and addressed the monk: 'I now take refuge in one who firmly upholds the precepts. When faced with such a perilous plight, you were able to uphold the Buddha's precepts.' The sea deity spoke a verse in reply:
