16.27
爾時迦夷王者我身是。聰叡大臣者舍利弗是。野狐王者調達是。告諸比丘。調達往昔詐得眷屬。今亦如是。故佛說偈云。
"At that time, the King of Kāśī was myself; the wise minister was Śāriputra; and the wild fox king was Devadatta." [The Buddha] addressed the bhikṣus: "In the past, Devadatta deceitfully gained a retinue, and so it is now." Therefore, the Buddha spoke a verse, saying:
