16.26

野狐憍慢盛　欲求其眷屬
行到迦夷城　自稱是獸王
人憍亦如是　規統於徒眾
在摩竭之國　法主以自號

"The wild fox's arrogance was rampant;
Wishing to seek its retinue,
It went to the city of Kāśī
And called itself the king of beasts.
Arrogant men are also like this,
Plotting to govern followers;
In the land of Magadha,
Calling themselves masters of the Dharma."
