又薩遮尼乾經云。若謗聲聞辟支佛法及大乘法。毀呰留難者。犯根本罪（今僧依大小乘經不拜君親是本佛教今乃令禮交違佛教使拜跪俗人即不信佛語故犯根本罪）。又順正理論云。諸天神眾。不敢希求受五戒者禮。如國君主。亦不求比丘禮拜。以懼損功德及壽命故。

Furthermore, the Satyavaca-nirgrantha-sūtra says: If one slanders the teachings of the śrāvakas, pratyekabuddhas, and the Mahāyāna, and vilifies or obstructs them, one commits a root offense. (Now, that monks follow the Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna sūtras in not bowing to rulers and parents is the original teaching of the Buddha. Now commanding them to bow directly violates the Buddha's teaching; making them kneel and bow to laypersons means not believing the Buddha's words, and therefore constitutes a root offense.) Furthermore, the Nyāyānusāra says: The assembly of heavenly gods does not dare to hope for homage from those who have received the five precepts. Just like the sovereign of a realm, they also do not seek homage from bhikṣus, out of fear of diminishing their merit and lifespan.
