含識皆畏死　有命懼嶮危
如魚困池涸　難逢流水希
親疎皆父母　何得不悲時
但慈救厄苦　福報自然隨

All conscious beings fear death; / Those with life dread perilous danger. / Like fish stranded in a drying pond, / Rare is the chance to meet flowing water. / Close and distant alike are fathers and mothers; / How could one not grieve for them in time? / Simply rescue them from distress with compassion, / And karmic retribution will naturally follow.
